My stay at the hotel was a mix of positive and negative experiences. The location was nice, close to Chocolate Lake, but the hotel could use some refurbishment. The service was a bit of a letdown, with some cleanliness issues and a malfunctioning elevator. The dining options were good, with a fair-sized dining area and delicious food. However, there were some maintenance issues around the facilities.
Rooms
6.0
The room for our family with 2 teenagers was spacious, but we found black hair in the bathroom which was off-putting.
Service
5.0
The service at the hotel was a bit disappointing. While some staff members were amazing, others need retraining, especially in customer service and maintenance.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location on scenic Chocolate Lake was nice for a peaceful stay, but due to detours, it was a bit challenging to find. It's convenient for trips to Halifax and Peggy's Cove.
Dining
8.0
We enjoyed the meal options available at the hotel, with a good selection to choose from, including hot eggs and sausage. The dining area was cozy and well-maintained.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had some maintenance issues around the facilities. Although there was a whirlpool, the upkeep could be better.

7.2/10
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, bringing back fond memories and even offering a high score on Pac-Man. However, the room I stayed in had a lingering smell of smoke from a previous guest, and the malfunctioning elevator made it challenging for those with mobility issues. The woman at the front desk on my arrival night was not very welcoming. On the positive side, the hotel was very clean, including the public areas, with convenient hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, although there was a hint of smoke smell in the one I stayed in. The elevator issues were inconvenient for those with mobility concerns.
Service
8.0
The staff were professional and friendly, making the overall experience welcoming. However, the lack of a fridge in the room was somewhat unexpected.
Location
6.0
The location of the hotel was decent, with easy access and a pleasant lake behind the property. It was suitable for exploring Nova Scotia but required transportation for local sightseeing. The residential surroundings made it inconvenient for a quick trip downtown.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was good, with a variety of selections, although it was crowded at times, leading to two-way traffic issues. Fresh orange juice was a highlight.

The hotel was small for 4 people with a view of parking, and the room was open all the time. It was so small for 2 beds and had a closet with sliding doors that couldn't be fully opened. The hot tub was overly chlorinated, making my eyes burn, and the pool deck area was slippery. The continuous fan never stopped, even with the power off.

Service
7.0
The staff were friendly, helpful, and organized. They promptly moved me due to a noisy dog nearby and provided excellent directions to local attractions. However, the service lacked friendliness when addressing Wi-Fi issues and channel availability on the TV.
Location
6.0
The hotel was next to Halifax attractions and restaurants, nestled on scenic Chocolate Lake about 10KM from central Halifax. It offered a great patio overlooking the water, though cleanliness was lacking with boogers and dirty carpet.
Dining
6.0
The dining was satisfactory with a lovely view of Chocolate Lake. The menu was repetitive with limited variety.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were subpar with a small room and a heavily chlorinated hot tub. The pool deck was unsafe and the continuous fan was a nuisance.

My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. While the rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet, there were some issues like poor lighting, no seating area, and a small bathroom in need of renovation. The elevator was also not working properly, making it challenging for guests with mobility issues. On the bright side, the woman at the front desk was kind enough to offer a ride downtown Halifax. The grounds around the hotel were clean and well-kept.

The hotel's location was convenient and offered access to most tourist attractions in downtown Halifax. The surroundings were relaxing, especially with the option to dine on the patio-deck.

The dining experience was a mix of highs and lows. While the food was delicious with plenty of choices, the service was lacking, especially considering the cancellation of a cheaper hotel due to unmet expectations.
